Double Bass, Guitar, Vocals
Richard Hughes began playing violin when he was 11 years old. After learning guitar from his older brother, he played in several bands in the Phoenix area and taught music through college extension programs. During his college years and subsequent legal career, he performed and taught only occasionally, playing mostly in the folk and ragtime traditions.
After retirement, he moved to Whidbey Island, Washington in 2001 and there he resumed active performance on guitar, bass, dobro, and mandolin. He was one of the founding members of Bayview Sound in 2009 and he has been playing and singing in various bands and venues including playing in the “pit band” for several theatrical productions on the Island.
Now with a strong interest in jazz, he continues his musical career performing in several bands, including “Sway” which he founded with Teresa Mooney. You can learn more about Sway by clicking the link below which will direct you to the official Facebook page.
